Allie Nambo
Hello! I’m Allie.

Welcome to my corner of the internet! I'm a graphic designer, illustrator and art educator currently located in Austin, TX. You can almost always find me with my main sidekick — a little foxdog named Sammie.

Our sweet Sammie passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving, 11/28, surrounded by family and all of his toys. He was 17 years old and had been a part of the Nambo family for 16+ years. He brought so much joy to everyone who knew and saw him. He had the sweetest face and the longest legs—he reminded our family of a fox, deer, lamb, and bear all morphed into one. He was the friendliest pup and always walked with a prance, constantly stopping people on the street to ask if they could pet him. For the past 6.5 years he has been the center of my universe—my #1 priority. We had a special pact: that I'd take care of him and he'd take care of me. He kept me grounded and always made sure that I got out for a walk every day. He always followed me around wherever I went, waiting patiently outside of the bathroom if I shut the door between us. I'll miss feeling his sweet nose on my leg when I'd be walking in one direction and turn around too quickly, accidentally bumping into him. Sometimes he'd snort in shock and sometimes he'd spin around in excitement, but he'd always end up prancing right back behind me, ready for the next adventure. He has been to 14 states, taken a dip in the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, modeled for Warby P(B)raker, flown on 2 airplanes, became a macaron and was featured in a National Geographic book about rescued pets. He loved to meet new friends, and investigate all of the smells—anytime a new bag was brought into the house, his nose was in it. He loved to eat tasty foods, snuggle, give kisses and get back massages. He loved roadtrips, hikes and riding in his special backpack carrier when he got tired. Earlier on, he really loved to run—especially in the snow and when it was cold out. But most of all he loved to spin and he kept on spinning until he couldn't anymore. It was heartbreaking to see him struggle as he lost his ability to walk, stand or sit up. Over the week, it became apparent that he was in a lot of pain and could not go on. Saying goodbye to him was the hardest thing I have ever done. His absence has left an emptiness in me I know can never be filled. Rest in peace sweet Sammie. You are loved and missed so very much.💔
M and M: Champions | A little over 4 years ago I snapped this photo of these two amazing people holding hands at the Portrait Gallery in DC for the first time. Two of my best friends, who I had met initially during different chapters of my life (Mikelle from high school and Matt from college), had recently connected after they both ended up in NY at the same time. They went on a date and a week later took their first trip (of many all over the world!) together down to visit DC. When they arrived it was apparent the second I saw them — they were totally in love! I really don’t think I’ve seen any couple hold hands as much as they did (and still do!). Now I’m currently on a plane headed to NY to see these two love birds tie the knot! They are true champions all around. Mikelle and Matt, I am so thankful to have you both in my life and am so happy that you have found each other. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for y’all in your next chapter as Mr & Mrs. Love love love you! 💕 @mborowick @mrindflish
Some cool California coast snaps from earlier this summer. Julia knows of the best beach spots! Missing that chilly weather. 100° heat-index today! ☁️💦☁️
