A decorative typeface design.
Barnacle Goose is loosely based off of crustacean sea life. Almost feather-like these intricate shells wind and grow to form the letters. The name Barnacle Goose was chosen to emphasize the focus on these tiny intricate sea creatures that can be found within the letterforms. At various distances from the letterforms these crustacean forms can be perceived as a cluster of feathers. The combination of sea life and sky life in this typeface represents Firmin Didot’s emphasis on thick and think strokes in the typeface Didot, which serves as an underlay for Barnacle Goose.
